On December 26, 1993, on the stage of the Eugene Ionesco Theater, the premiere of the comedy "CHIRIțA ÎN PROVINCIE" took place, directed by Petru Vutcarau, with Igor Chistol in the role of Chirița. It was played with great success for over 10 years, and in 2007, after a break of several years, the show resumed, this time with Veaceslav Sambriș in the central role. Since 2013, the role of Chirița has been performed by Valeriu Pahomi.

Always current, with overflowing humor and with an abundance of situations and allusions to the social and political realities of the time, the longest-running show in the Republic of Moldova is still playing today with full halls, even after 25 years.

Probably the most popular and best-selling show in the Republic of Moldova. Considered the longest-running, it always fills the "Eugene Ionesco" hall. The director Petru Vutcarau already knew 25 years ago, when it premiered at TEI, to address the social-political realities of the time, to make it always current. "Chirita in the province” is very successful and has more than five fiftieth years. With overflowing humor and an abundance of situations and allusions, the coana Chiriță amuses the audience and brings a smile to the viewers' lips even when she cries.
